MTV greenlights new spinoff of ‘The Hills’ with new cast emphasising diversity and sophistication in modern LA
Spencer Platt Have an idea for the upcoming new iteration “The Hills,” MTV might want to think about it. On Wednesday, the network announced a new iteration of the franchise without a single familiar face.
The news comes five months after “The Hills: New Beginnings” was canceled after just two short seasons. To recreate the magic of the original series from the 2000s, “NB” reunites several of the original cast members, but struggles to recreate the magic.

The idea now is to go back to the original work, as originally reported deadline, which is following a group of young people in Los Angeles as they try to pursue their various dreams. The show is also known for allegedly being more fake (fake script) than other reality shows.
With the tentative title “The Hills: Next Gen,” the series hopes to take another look at a new cast of young, hungry, and most likely beautiful, as they try to figure out how to chase their dream Angeles in modern-day Los Angeles.
The network also promises a more diverse cast than the original series, as well as an emphasis on the types of issues modern young adults are dealing with, such as “race, class, identity, addiction, family drama, and romance and becoming self-made.
The main difference between the two iterations is that OG “Hills” is a spinoff of another successful reality series “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” that covers their high school years, so it’s Many of the actors are already familiar to MTV audiences.

From there, he couldn’t resist digging into the cast of his own show, which included big names from both series such as Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge, Lo Bosworth, Brody Jenner, Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Kristin Cavallari, and Mischa Barton, as well as his sister Stephanie and now wife Heidi Montag.

MTV has had success revisiting some of its classic shows and characters, with fans eating “Jersey Shore,” “Teen Mom” and “Real World” remakes along with OG cast members. In today’s modern world, full boots are risky new properties, so perhaps the network should consider a “best of both worlds” scenario.
Pratt is certainly a funny and outspoken character to tell about the new series – especially if it’s a little self-aware. He can also act as a familiar connection from the old “mountain” to the new “mountain” to bridge the gap.
While there’s no need to link the two attributes, as “The Real World” has a new cast each season, after all these years with just one cast, it might be hard for fans to embrace all of them with such an iconic name New faces with a very specific group of people.
MTV has placed a series of orders for the latest version of “The Hills,” but there’s no word on when it will air.
