The Indian startup ecosystem has seen a record number of new unicorns in 2021, recently witnessing the birth of its 100th unicorn, after
Neobank Open closes $50 million funding round led by. With over 60,000 startups recognised by the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of India, with around 14,000 being recognised in FY2022 alone, India’s startup ecosystem is growing rapidly.

Much of this growth has been driven by strong private equity investor interest and favorable government initiatives. However, Indian startups today also face heightened market volatility and macroeconomic uncertainty, slowing funding in the ecosystem, and an increasing focus on profitability and fundamentals rather than a growth-at-all-costs model.

To develop a roadmap to address the challenges facing Indian startups and identify the next growth opportunities in the ecosystem, the last day of ET India Inc Boardroom 2022 will discuss the topics of startups and entrepreneurship.

At the event, startup founders, innovators, policy makers and business leaders at the heart of India’s new economy will focus on innovation opportunities in industries such as healthcare, next billion dollar startup opportunities and tackling the current operating environment strategy for building resilient businesses.

The five-day ET India Inc Boardroom 2022 event kicked off on 16 May 2022, with each day thereafter focusing on a key theme including the economy, ESG, financial inclusion, and digital transformation and automation. ET India Inc’s boardroom, rightly called India’s largest corporate boardroom, will host a virtual meeting for over 10,000 attendees worldwide through May 20, in collaboration with partner Commerzify and knowledge partner Bain & Company .

    According to IBEF estimates, the Indian healthcare market will be worth $372 billion by 2022.
