Those who worked with Helen McCrory defied the downpour to show up in droves at yesterday’s “Beautiful” memorial service to celebrate her life.
Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Keeley Hawes a year after Miss McCrory died of breast cancer at 52 Afterwards, it was packed with St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden, London.

Her husband Damian Lewis, 51, plays guitar with their children, daughter Manon, 15, and son Gulliver, 14.
The hour-long service began with Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, followed by prayers and hymns to guide me, O great Redeemer.
Readings include one about her “leaders”, while another is a reading of Maya Angelou’s poem “Moved by Angels.”
Bob Dylan’s “To Be Alone with You” starred in a movie called “In Her Own Words.”
A family guest told the Daily Mail: “It was amazing, Damian did a great job organising it despite his heartbreak. Gully played guitar, Manon read, all the actors who performed with her. , and of course the director of her first play at National, is here.
“We know she’s been sick for a long time. Fighting through it, Peaky Blinders, other dramas. She only has one arm – surgery to cut a nerve.
“In the end, she died at home with Damian and everyone around her was organizing everything, including this [the memorial].

Miss McCrory, known for her roles as the villainous Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter films and the matriarch Aunt Polly in the spiky eyeshadow, pays homage to her in the final series.
In addition to her Harry Potter co-stars Miss Bonham Carter and Fiennes, many Peaky Blinders actors were in attendance, including brothers Joe and Finn Cole, who played her nephew and son on screen John and Michael Shelby. Other guests include Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch and Natasha McElhone.
Named OBE in the 2017 Theatre Service New Year’s Honours, Miss McCrory is also an award-winning stage actress, working with the National Theatre, Almeida and Don Mar Warehouse, and playing Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe lady.
Rufus Norris, artistic director of the National Theatre, said she was “without a doubt one of the greatest actors of her generation”.
Miss McCrory made her last television appearance with Lewis on Good Morning Britain to promote their partnership with The Prince’s Trust charity in March last year.
