Robert Smith been teasing the latest cure It’s been a while since the album, but now it looks like a release day may finally be right around the corner.The artist revealed to NME that project, called song of the lost worldwill be available before The Cure begins airing this fall.
Smith told NME already march He needed to record the final four vocals for the 10-track album, but he changed his story slightly in a recent interview. “Reeves [Gabrels] Our guitarist came over from America today just to do a couple of solos and I had to do a couple of vocals,” he said. “It’s basically a 12-track album. It’s there, it’s a semi-blended semi-finished product. This is a very strange thing. It has grown over the past two years. Being alone with it isn’t always a good thing. You pick it, like you pick a seam, and everything falls apart. “
As The Cure’s first album since 2008 4:13 Dreams, Song of the Lost World With a lot of anticipation, but as Smith promises fans, “It’s worth the wait. As for its content, Smith said song of the lost world is “very ruthless” and “doesn’t have too many highlights,” comparing it to disintegration Compare head on the door. “It’s very distressing, just like everyone else,” he explained. “I’m more privileged than most, but the lockdown and COVID have affected me like I lost a whole generation of aunts and uncles in less than a year. It’s things like this that have affected my approach to records The way.”
Long ago, Smith said the cure Three albums are in production. Now he reduces it to two and describes the follow-up song of the lost world as the optimistic inverse of its predecessor. Don’t hold your breath for that, though. “While there were some really good songs, I kind of lost my love for others, so we might have to record four or five more,” Smith said. It would be great if only one album could be released this year.
In addition to The Cure, Smith recently collaborated on this song with CHVRCHES “How not to drown,” They later performed – and a cover of “Just Like Heaven” – in NME Awards.
