some very important ideas
- I put an asterisk
- Except for the 14 teams the Eagles will play this season.
- Gardner Minshew, Andre Dillard and/or Isaac Seumalo may join the list before the season begins. Or before the trade deadline hits.
- Another year, the AFC East leads all divisions of the former Eagles.
- Compared with last year, the AFC West jumped from tied for third to second.
- The AFC North has often been a dead zone for former Eagles players. That could change as Andrew Berry and Andy Weidel now have significant personnel power in the department. or not!
- Speaking of influence, Joe Douglas likes his former Eagles players. For some reason, Texans too?
- If the Hawks could regain a former Hawks player currently under contract, who would it be? The correct answer is Jordan Poyer, especially given the team’s massive security gap.
- Big names aside, who are the lesser-known players you’d like to return? Someone might upgrade Arryn Siposs with Cameron Johnston.
- The Jaguars haven’t added a former Hawks player since Doug Pederson took over as head coach (Rudy Ford signed in the 2021 offseason). With Jacksonville topping the list for exempt wire transfer orders, that could change the list.
- You could accuse me of making up the most obscure names: Nick Eubanksm, Jordan Franks, Nate Meadors.
- Did you know that Kenjon Barner has owned more Super Bowl rings (3) over the past five seasons than any other player? He’s a winner, baby.
- The Cowboys, Panthers, Titans and Bears are the only teams without a former Hawk.
- Not ex-Hawks, but sons of ex-Hawks: Asante Samuel Jr. of the Chargers, Jon Runyan Jr. of the Packers, Josh Pederson of the Gamblers and Vinny Papale of the Bandits.
I’m adding the resurrected USFL to this year’s tracker. I started including CFL last year. There are slim pickings out there.
