Archie Manning’s family

Manning will be one of the most popular players in college football in 2023. He is the son of Cooper Manning. Arch’s grandfather, Archie, was an Ole Miss star quarterback who finished third in the 1970 Heisman poll.

In 1994-97, Peyton Manning threw for 11,201 yards, 89 touchdowns and 33 interceptions at Tennessee. He finished second in the Heisman voting. From 2000-03, Eli Manning passed for 11,019 yards, 81 touchdowns and 35 interceptions at Ole Miss. He came third in the 2003 Heisman poll.

Payton and Eli, both No. 1 overall picks in the NFL draft, have combined for four Super Bowl victories. Archie was the second overall pick in the 1971 NFL draft.

Despite his impressive pedigree, Arch Manning doesn’t feel the pressure to live up to its name.

“I really don’t see it that way at all,” Arch Manning by Dawg Nation says“I’m just here to play football with my friends. Just a good group of people. It’s fun. I don’t really have any pressure playing football. It’s really fun for me.”

Arch Manning’s Six Best Hiring Matches

Manning did not set a timeline for his decision. 247Sports.com named Alabama, Georgia and Texas as quarterback favorites for the 2023 season. Sports News checked the best candidates:

1. Georgia

Manning hit the headlines when he raved about Kirby Smart and said, “Athens is probably the best college town I’ve ever been to.” According to On3.com. Georgia and Texas are currently the favorites, and the Bulldogs have some advantages. Georgia is wrapping up its national championship game, offensive coordinator Todd Monken has a great relationship with Manning, and the roster is filled with four- and five-star talent built through Smart’s elite recruiting. Carson Beck and five-star Brock Vandagriff will be the other quarterbacks on the 2023 roster, but it’s a job Manning can earn.

2. Texas

Manning has Five visits to Texas And plan to visit at least one more time before Steve Sarkisian’s second season with the Longhorns. Texas will also play Alabama on September 10 in Austin. Hudson Card and Ewers are fighting for a starting spot in the spring, which is something Ewers needs to earn before we can talk about the possibility of fighting Manning in 2023. Will playing for Texas be more stressful than inheriting the Manning legacy? It’s debatable, but if Manning brings back Texas once and for all, the hype that led to his NFL career would be off the charts, even by the standards of the Manning family.

3. Alabama

The Crimson Tide remains the most logical choice for a quarterback transition. Manning will be the favorite among 2023 national title contenders. Alabama’s last three starting quarterbacks — Jalen Hertz, Tua Tagovaloa and Mike Jones — are all first-round picks in the NFL. Manning could develop with offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien and move the Nick Saban dynasty into a possible final chapter. So, what is a holdover? Four-star quarterback Eli Holstein is also on Alabama’s 2023 recruiting plan. ‘Bama clearly likes Eli Holstein’, 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Bigkins on the podcast on May 5“They’re basically not going to wait for Archie. Still, if Archie picks Alabama, that’s going to change that plan.”

4. Florida

Manning hasn’t been to Florida, but Chad Simmons of On3.com Report visits to crocodiles are possible. New coach Billy Napier is familiar with Manning during his time at Louisiana, and he has a track record of success. Anthony Richardson is the starter for Florida State, but he may leave after the season. It’s a long shot, but one worth watching if Manning does make an official visit.

5. Louisiana State University

We already knew Brian Kelly was going all out for recruits, and Manning was planning to play at LSU this season. The proximity factor is at play, as Joe Burrow proved that an elite quarterback can turn LSU into a national title contender overnight. Jayden Daniels and Miles Brennan are vying for the starting spot this season. Manning may now be the starter, but Kelly still has work to do.

6. Miss Ole

Given the legacy Archie and Eli left behind at Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin doesn’t need to push too hard on the family side. Kiffin can sell offense averaging 492.5 yards per game in 2021 and should continue to roll with Jaxson Dart in 2022. Dart came through the transfer portal to Ole Miss and will be in the Rebels for at least another year. Knowing that Manning could win that game as a freshman isn’t a deal breaker. The rebels may be on the fringes, but these family ties will keep them talking until a decision is made. Ole Miss does have a commitment from 3-star quarterback Marcel Reed, Class of 2023.
