TJ Oshie Lists His McLean, Virginia Home for $7.5M

Washington Capitals star TJ Oshie has listed his McLean, Virginia home for $7.5 million. Don’t worry, the right wing and the greats of Olympic hockey aren’t going anywhere. He bought another house in McLean, according to the Washington Business Journal.

After seven seasons in St. Louis, Oshe was traded to the Capitals in 2015. A year ago, he became a household name after his shootout heroics for Team USA at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. In 2018, his two winning goals helped Washington win the Stanley Cup. Osh signed a $46 million, eight-year deal in 2017, and he made his first NHL All-Star Game in 2020. Despite injuries derailing part of his season this year, Osh, 35, has scored 11 goals in 44 regular-season games. He scored a team-high five goals in the playoffs.

Oshie and his wife Lauren have owned the five-bedroom, five-bathroom, 5,000-square-foot home from Boston Properties executive Ray Ritchey in 2017. Ritchey built this French style home in 1996.Since moving into the house, Oshies has updated it with the help of an interior designer Mary Flanigan.

“Lauren always shows me Mary’s Instagram and stuff she likes. I’m not very interested in things like home design, but she does a fantastic job,” Ohi told Architectural Design, which opened in 2020 Launched the residence.

The three-story house in the Langley Farms neighborhood has a storybook feel with its stucco exterior, three gables and wooden beams above the lower windows. A circular gravel driveway guides visitors to the entrance.

The entrance hall leads to French doors leading to the backyard. A dining room and a living room, each with a fireplace, flank the entrance hall. The kitchen has been refurbished with O’Brien Harris cabinets in oak, matching oak beams. An iron lantern hangs over the island, with its Cambria Brittannicca stone top. There are benches in the breakfast corner.

“I find a lot of inspiration through Instagram,” Lauren told Architectural Digest. “I know I want everything to be very neutral and light, and I like adding texture and layering textures to add interest rather than adding a lot of color.”

A large family room next to the kitchen accommodates Oshies’ three children and two dogs. The fireplace in that room was manufactured and assembled by Alamostone near Houston. French doors open to the backyard.

The master suite on the second floor has a balcony and living room with fireplace. The master bathroom has Waterworks tiles, Calacatta Gold marble countertops on the vanity, shower and soaking tub. The other three bedrooms on this level also have en suite bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has a built-in bunk bed with a slide. A large office with built-in shelves is also on this level.

The lower level has a wet bar, a recreation room with a fireplace and an exercise room.

The grounds have a heated swimming pool, a play area and gardens with flower boxes, climbing roses and hedges. The house has a three-car garage attached.
